The Works had recently re-platformed to IBM Websphere and tasked us with finding an Ecommerce Director who would, not only be able to project manage a series of business critical multi-channel initiatives but also, lead day to day trading activities of a small team.

Not only did this person  need to have extensive knowledge and expertise across all aspects of digital, from a marketing, sales and technology perspective, they would also need to be entrepreneurial and possess a collaborative style with an ability to build relationships with key functions such as retail and buying.

We met the management team to discuss the role, the culture, and the career possibilities that exist when joining a PE backed business.

We completed a thorough market search at the Director level nationally, identifying several suitable individuals that ensured our client met three highly qualified and experienced eCommerce Directors and found it difficult to choose between them.

 

The successful candidate had over 10 years ecommerce experience, and a proven track record in driving rapid increase in online general merchandise sales and delivery of multichannel projects with his most recent role being with a blue chip grocer. Since he joining he has exceeded the online targets and delivered many of the essential multi-channel projects.
